Certification – why does it matter?
Alexis De Sela is certified by the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) and is an America College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) member of the Alliance of Health and Fitness Professionals.
NASM is accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA). The National Commission of Certifying Agencies was created in 1987 by the National Organization for Competence Assurance (NCOA) to help ensure the health, welfare, and safety of the public through the accreditation of programs and organizations that assess professional competence.
Certification programs receiving NCCA accreditation demonstrate compliance with the NCCA’s Standards for the Accreditation of Certification Programs, the first standards for professional certification programs developed by the industry. While there are many personal training certification entities, only a few are NCCA accredited. NASM is one of the nation’s premier personal training certification programs.
Training Philosophy
Core Value follows the NASM’s Optimum Performance Training (OPT) model. Developed by NASM as an exclusive, evidence-based and tested, comprehensive training method, OPT provides undisputed results specific to individual needs and goals. The OPT model incorporates multiple types of training, including flexibility, cardio respiratory, core, balance, reactive, speed, agility, quickness, and strength into every program.
Based on a preliminary movement assessment, Core Value will determine any muscle imbalances and develop a personalized training program to correct those imbalances. If muscle imbalances are not properly addressed, any subsequent strength training may compound the imbalance, causing injury.
The OPT model progresses a client through five different stages depending on fitness level, needs and goals. The stages are:
Most Core Value clients will progress through Stabilization Endurance, Strength Endurance and Hypertrophy training. Maximal Strength Training and Power Training are usually used for training clients who are athletes or those that have progressed to a higher level of fitness. There are hundreds of exercises that can be adapted to each OPT level to help you reach your goals.
Our Bottom Line
Core Value adheres to a philosophy of exercise simplicity that uses a sound, scientifically tested program emphasizing the use of basic equipment but providing maximum results; Core Value is not fancy, but effective!
